SUSAN HANRAHAN BUCKING BULL GALLERY NUMBER ONE

"Cactus Sue" Hanrahan brings you up close and personal to the bucking bull stars of bull riding.

Susan Hanrahan is passionate about bucking bulls. Her up close and personal approach to her relationship with the bovine athletes brings a unique and engaging quality to her wonderful photographs of the animal stars of the sport of bull riding. Enjoy!

Susan says: “I love to get up close to the superstar bulls. Many times, the only visit was at the Finals in Las Vegas. I remember squealing with delight the first time I saw Bushwacker, Bones, Chicken on a Chain and many others! I remember one visit where Bushwacker was penned across the alley from Asteroid. I was so excited to see them both! Bushwacker stood back and watched me. Asteroid was right at the rail, looking for a scratch. Both champions but very different personalities. This example speaks of how very different and wonderful each of these bovine athletes are.”

Asteroid Portrait: “Asteroid heading on over for some back scratches. This bull loved a good scratch! He was such a sweetheart! This was at Chad Berger’s place.


Smooth Operator:  2016 World Finals in Vegas. Look how low Smooth Operator’s head is to the ground!!

“
Chicken On A Chain: “This is Chicken on a Chain’s retirement romp at Thomas & Mack in Vegas. He worked that entire arena. Bucked off Chris Shiver’s in his final out.”

Mississippi Hippy:  “The big boy bucking at the Finals in Vegas 2015. Such an incredible athlete for his size. He is greatly missed!!”

Big Tex: “This is a VERY special memory for me. While visiting Chad Berger’s ranch, Big Tex (my original bovine love!!) came to me when I called him. He walked over to me and I scratched his back for a good long time.  This moment is so special to me, that I have this photo tattooed on my arm!”

Air Time:  “LOVE this one of Air Time staring down JB Mauney, after bucking him off. From the Finals 2016.”

Long John From D&H Cattle: ” I found this gem…Long John in 2014 Albuquerque. I’m thinking this was his ABBI Classic year but not 100% sure.”

Pearl Harbor:  “The cowboy is sent flying in a cloud of dust! Pearl Harbor at the World Finals 2016.”

Bones:  “A Favorite of Bones.  Taken at the World Finals in Vegas 2011. Bones was the recipient of the ‘Brand of Honor’.”

Bushwacker Leaving T & M:  “Bushwacker heading to the out gate, at Thomas & Mack in Las Vegas, after his final out at the PBR. He had just dumped Mike Lee and scored 46.5 points. I cried like a baby watching him leave.”
